People often fall into a loop or cycle of feeling ill-equipped to take on the task of leading or teaching due to gaps in knowledge.

However, this is precisely why virtually everyone needs to lead and teach!

It is through these two means that you and I can identify where we missed the mark and where we excel. This is by far the best way we can get natural feedback, save some embarrassment and/or consequences…

For years, and I mean over a decade, I have struggled to build an online presence as I always felt ill-equipped to publish content. As a 13 or 14-year-old, I made content on budgeting and credit cards, though I didn’t have a budget or a credit card. After sinking into loads of CC debt, I realized that had I kept making content, this would have never happened. When I was 19, I joined a Financial Literacy for the Youth club at my university. This forced me to collaborate with business and economics majors who also aimed to teach financial literacy.

That summer, I put my blood, sweat, and tears into making a PowerPoint presentation all about credit, and not long after, I began teaching high school kids.

This experience was truly life-changing. I learned the credit material more deeply as I taught it. And a few kids even asked real questions. And trust me when I say engaging with high school kids is an anomaly.

At the recent and ripe age of 22, I have finally made a budget that is helping me get out of my debt once and for all. There is so much more I’d like to say but for my first official post, I’d like to end with a quote:

I’m excited to bring whoever’s reading along this journey with me to understanding through teaching and becoming more literate. I’ll be focusing on personal finance for now, but I will be branching out to other topics as I hone my craft. There will be an article every week, most likely Friday. See y’all in the next post!
